Bill Smith, British Soldier – Love, Life and War

£15.99

Bill kept diaries, making his attention to detail in this memoir exceptional. There is interest here for those who lived in Sheffield before the Second World War and for those who like reading first-hand accounts of events during WWII. Very readable and entertaining.

Description

Bill Smith’s memoir begins with stories of a happy childhood on the streets of Pitsmoor, Sheffield. Later, Bill joined the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and was stationed in France and the Middle East during the Second World War, with further military work in the Far East at the close of the war.

Through the eyes of Bill, we can laugh at the characters he met during his army training and feel his despair during the bombing raids on France. Bill is a natural and very entertaining storyteller who loved life to the full.
