The Retford War memorial lists more than 300 names of soldiers who died in the First World War. Local History enthusiast, Tim Bethell, has researched the war-time experiences of over 200 0f these brave men and his research forms the basis of this book.

Ken Hoddy has spent over 60 years taking part in military events, and in more recent years he has acted as custodian and fund-raising co-ordinator to ensure that the memorial is maintained in a condition of which the town can be proud.

Profits from the sale of this book will go to the “Retford Memorial Restoration Fund” to help towards the on-going maintenance of the memorial and the surrounding garden of remembrance.
